This could be loosely translated as “lunar magicks”. The phases of the moon are an element that I really enjoy in illustration, personally.
I wanted to try giving Theodius a slightly different costume and equipment for this picture, even though he doesn’t – to my current knowledge – use a whip at any point in the story. It just felt like a weapon that would suit a character like him well… *cough*
