Luuneyd of Rose Valley

Luuneyd of Rose Valley (2020).
A process shot, working on painting the roses.

Luuneyd with the famous blue roses of her home valley. I remember struggling with this piece because all of my brown watercolours granulate while painting, thanks to the pigments used in them, and I was rather agitated over the texture the paints left on her skin. Oh, my poor beautiful daughter, I’m so sorry. These are the joys of watercolour painting, I suppose. Nowadays I’ve switched to painting darker skin tones with liquid watercolours instead to avoid this problem.
